Touring our Facilities
If you ever find yourself passing through
Northern Indiana, please feel free to stop by our factory. Guests
are welcome to take a tour of our candy-making operation and
watch the candy-making process in a real life setting. The best
times to stop by are in the morning, Monday thru Thursday.

Going into the kitchen area, visitors
will see cookers in operation. The photos above show a few of the
steps involved in creating our reputable hard candies. Years of
experience tell the candymakers exactly when to pour the hot
sugar mixture which will soon become hard candy. With a few
skillful motions, a stripe is added to the candy which becomes a
fine line on each finished candy. At the end of the line, the
hard candy enters a wrapping machine, and if as by magic, come
out neatly, one by one, wrapped in cellophane and ready for
you.
Chocolates are
the crowning glory of the operation. Using a huge machine called
an enrober, the run of chocolates is a fascinating thing to
watch, as the carefully controlled, aromatic coating surrounds
the creams going down the conveyor belt. At stations along the
way, lighted control boards, pulleys, and chains hint of the
intricacy of the equipment. Chocolate is made under strict
humidity and temperature control, assuring that no stray flavors
or moisture enters the batch.
Even with all the computer controlled
machinery, gears, and chains, there are still many hand processes
involved in candymaking. Below, in the first image, workers dip
candied orange peel into melted chocolate. Did you ever wonder
where those little clever peaks on the top of the chocolates come
from? The second image shows how this is done using another hand
finishing technique.
